Get ready to embrace fashion that celebrates every thread of diversity.

M: What is the collection inspired by? What was the creative process behind it?

Alpha: ‘Diverse Threads’ is inspired by a love for unique gender-neutral designs. It involved using recycled denim jeans from Gikomba and sourcing African designs locally to create a collection that celebrates diversity and individuality. The collection was motivated by the limitations and challenges I faced in finding suitable clothing options that align with my gender identity in Kenya. My goal is to promote inclusivity, diversity, and self-expression within the local fashion industry. By offering gender-neutral designs, I aim to provide a space where people of all gender identities can feel comfortable and confident, breaking away from traditional norms and fostering a more accepting society in Kenya.

M: Is Diverse Threads your first clothing line? Where can one buy them from?

Alpha: ‘Diverse Threads’ is not the first collection, but it’s a significant milestone created with love and support from my people. You can purchase pieces from this collection at our hustle app shop or drop us a DM at the shop belowcloud97.

M: What is your proudest moment of the process?

Alpha: The proudest moment of the process was when the models embraced the last-minute design changes and complimented the outfits. Their willingness to volunteer and showcase the brand was a heartwarming highlight.

M: Beautiful! What should we look out for in the future?

Alpha: In the future, you can look forward to more neutral collections coming from this space. The next collection may be launched around the same date next year, as creating a collection requires time and financial investment. Stay tuned for more unique and gender-neutral designs.
